Myths & Legends, Poetic Musings

Where The Wild Things Roam

If they had not been forced to the mountainside,
Would she have thrived instead of turning feral?

Exhausting strength to keep family pack safe,
Her justice was swift though lovingly careful

Her youngest had wrestled with the backlash
Isolation can bring by its drawn out denial

She’d had to counter challenges to leadership,
As if they both had been born to be rivals

She reflected upon the latest information:
It was good the younger male had stayed away

She already had “a passel of puppies”
And did not need to feed one more stray

Now with injuries tucked in bright meadow,
She still skirts along shadows of hedge

Deflecting any new male advances
To ensure that she keeps a clear head.

Poetic Musings, Songs

Homeward Bound

On the treadmill of life
Gotta watch for your exits

‘Cause once you’re on it
There ain’t second chances

You can shuck corn all day
And wish ya had braces

But that don’t gain a pass
To Nordstrom’s or Macy’s

Gotta sidestep that reel
For your life to feel real

If you wanna go higher
And not whither expire

While you’re makin’ those plans
Gotta reach out your hands

And step off when that chance
Chasse’s you parliance

Now you ken close to me
If you wanna be set free

Ain’t no man gonna pay
For what he’s taken away

And your children once grown
Will find their own homes

So you gotta befriend
On thine own self depend

Keep an eye on that ball
However near or gone far

Make a promise so true
It’ll come back to you

When that timin’ is right
Yonder day into night

That sweet wind comin’ ’round
And you’ll hop to the ground

Find it solidly
There to guide you

Chasse’s is as “sashay” like “swing your partner, dosido (in square dance)” and parliance is like it comes to catch your attention to takes its chance.

The Raptor And The Gargoyle

The Raptor And The Gargoyle: Well Met

She arrived one day to perch next to him, her warm shoulder leaning against his crouching outer thigh to avoid the high-rise, whipping air currents with a trusting closeness he was unaccustomed to and surprised by.

She asked him about his city, the places he loved, and what he enjoyed doing.

But he had been frozen stiff in contemplation looking out over the city as if guarding it for so long, that it was hard for him to break his vow of silence and give her his reply.

Hyde's Bride

Hyde’s Bride: Reaching For Light

She kept fighting the overwhelming urges and impulses as they attempted to swamp any semblance of her remaining reason.

She marveled in her struggles at how much sway the female primordial affected when driven into a frenzy by chemical exacerbations

Meeting head-on the waves attempting to crush her stalwart resolution, she could only will her passions into bending pliantly in hopes that the prime directives would simply wash over her.

For there was no safe harbor within which to shelter as she was ravaged upon by the lashing sea.

The sensations tugged and tore at her relentlessly while she clung to her pride’s propriety.
