In observing my past journeying
Where into worlds of perception I’ve wandered,
It begins to make sense to me now
Why I was drawn to earth-based religions:
For if God fashioned us from clay
As in the Qur’anic Origin Story
Then we as humans respond intuitively
To nature’s demands and memories.
It makes sense to me now
How there is truth in many religions,
Because we share the same cellular
Structures and instinctual frissions.
There is great peace in finding a home
When one doesn’t know where they belong
And a righteousness to believing
In the purity of a bird’s song.
And if God created us from these
Same matrices of system relations,
It is honorable and right that we
Should worship such Revelation.
But it is important that we lift our eyes
To the fact that because we are human,
We’ve been charged with the task
Of valuing the Entirety of Creation
By a force that continues beckoning us to
A Love that is greater than we’ve imagined.
