I’d like to talk with you
About important things
To understand you better
Learn what we both need
Don’t want to douse your fire as
Searching for ground’s stability
Insecurities’ overcompensations
From a life’s banished desolation
Causing automatic clinging to
Shade’s safety under the trees
Literally learning to walk again
Requiring careful treading land
Yet maybe I’m just nervous to be
Taking your hands’ instant flying
Having been bound too tight while
Admonished for instinct’s aspiring
I get the feeling you wouldn’t care
What anyone thinks of our union
Exhilarating as I need some time
To get used to us before the world
Welcomes, opinions, or challenges
I want to secure our hearts’ clarity
Fame, fortune, fancy to quiet venues
Can be adventures we share together
What I crave most is our souls’ tethers
Wrapping us so tightly in any weather
As if we can’t move or breathe
Nourishing each others’ beliefs
Harnessing energy of trust
Generating heat of life’s lust
Our wings unfolding as we expand
Reaching love’s higher dimensions
