“I Know Love” (Song Bit)

By Athena Stairs, January 19, 2026

I know love
I know love

And you deserve love
You deserve love

Yeah I know love
I know love

And you deserve love
Yes you deserve love

Stiff, then rolling, then changing over time in its expression, looping as music evolves.

AI And Me

Matrix Dreams

She overheard a cartoon baby bird fluttering nearby, trying to fly – but then it landed back down onto the ground, insecure of its worth.

She went over to it like Snow White in gentle, encouraging consolation – but without the same voice, just tone – and sang to it reassuringly:

“I know love. Yes I know love. And you deserve love. Yeah you deserve love.”

And the baby bird looked up at the sky again, hopefully.

Lone Wolf

Wherever I Roam

She’d had to stay alone to be consistent while raising her youngest until developed wings and could fly, and then, to hold the nest so that the others could be able to land in a safe place.

Her children had grown, were with good partners, and their lives were unfolding independently – though they all kept bridging and connecting with her.

Was it her turn now to get to have her own life’s partnered love?

(Title name of Metalica song)

Altered States

My Dogs Are Waiting

“They don’t really have any other choice.

Their yard is taken over by the others’ activities – and my hound is given over too much now to sounding her mile out howl to be allowed to stay outside for long.

I have boots, now, and it was sunny, yesterday.

Maybe…

Maybe we could go for a small walk today.

But it takes a lot to get ready.

And they aren’t easy when I walk them together.

I have to have a harness system and brace within their veering to keep them in check and functional.

It’s much like managing a snow dog team, where I am the master, as well as the sled.

And I need to be careful how they pull on me while I keep my balance and feet planted.

It’s a toll challenge on my whole destabilized system.

And I’m not sure if I should be instead focusing on recovering from working.”

In Dreams

At The Club

She saw them come and go.

Different personalities, types, and genders.

She didn’t like some of the guys there looking at her, because she’d seen them from the beginning and didn’t like being attached to after everyone else had been picked through.

She had been once in the way past interested, too – but had learned better early on when she caught a derisive glance cast at her from one who thought that she wasn’t looking at that moment.

It only took that one painful lesson to shore herself up away from him and pull up straight after that.

Since then he seemed to have mellowed toward her – and in fact he seemed to sometimes go out of his way to place himself directly in front of her so that she’d notice.

But she didn’t want anyone there.

And she certainly wasn’t going to trust him now that she knew that he was capable of cuting her care into ribbons behind that neutral facade.

Recently there was another one circling, getting ever more bolder over time as his confidence picked up.

She didn’t understand why these guys thought to try with her.

She wasn’t flirty, kept to herself, and (in her mind, anyway) clearly had injuries that she was working on overcoming.

She wasn’t there for the chance of dating.

She was there for healing and some female peer and staff exchanges of friendliness.

And maybe, if he thought of it, the one she wanted might someday walk in.

“Spun Around” (Song Repost W/ Lyrics)

By Athena Stairs, December 5, 2025

I’ve been holdin’ on here
Comin’ tends to another year

Please don’t fault me
I’m feelin’ lonely

Every time I turn around
Fears and worries make a sound

When love’s intangible
It’s uncomfortable

And if my feet should leave the ground
Don’t hesitate to turn me ’round
‘Cause I’m fallin’ for you hard

Can we find a better way
There’s only so much I can say
When I’m loving from the heart

Where did you go?
And where do you roam?

I long to be with you
To start life over brand new

Why are we apart
What good is this for our heart?

And you
I don’t know what to say

‘Cause you
Take my breath away

Oh

When all I’ve ever known
Has chilled me to the bone

Oh

And I would choose a better way
Can you see me?
Come this day

Oh
Ah

Never in my life before
Have I wanted something more

And you
Oh
Are my dream come true

Don’t you see me?
Can’t you say
We can find a better way?

Oh

Every time I turn around
My feet keep slipping off the ground

Oh
