“Every Time – I Think Of You” (Song)

By Athena Stairs, November 20, 2025

There’s a place I know
I can see it in my mind

Where the ocean’s ebb flow
Meets the shore at high tide

And the waves crashing lap
Where the fullness presides

Under bridging overpass
Along cliff’s curving glide

A place where elements meet
Forming bonds within the air

Makes my heartbeat sing
Knowing we can meet there

Along this cove that’s discreet
Where people won’t stop and stare

Where given time to unwind
We’ll feel the depths that we share

And when the waves will receed
We’ll find a contour down there

Revealing hidden treasures
Gathered wealth we can spare

And then we’d journey onward
Through the tunnel high above

Grab a plane to somewhere
No one else would think of

And I’d gaze upon your face
Trace each scar as we embrace

We’d learn that we’ve found the place
Our dreams can trust in Heaven

And if you ever doubt reasons
That brought our hopes to surface

Just know I’ll be here every season
And love’s reborn with greater purpose

Flight Of White

“For quite a distance yesterday afternoon along 99E heading back as leaving Portland, a sizeable bird traveled just out of clarity’s sight, keeping pace with my direction’s 30mph traffic.

It’s bright white wings kept flashing as if a beacon in the slanting sun, and occasionally it would just stop flapping and rest by gliding.

I became eager to know what it was and so kept glancing at it, hoping to get to catch up to it.

At last I did, just as our lane turned West to cross over a bridge spanning entry to the great river.

As it turned with us, I realized that it was a lone seagull journeying with us to that point, as if helping to guide my spirit home.

The Wall Between Us

One night, she delayed her shower and entered the darklit dream world earlier than usual in a desperate attempt to flee the concussion’s pain.

Yet because she was ahead of schedule, as she came upon the veil’s wall that she usually tried to nightly climb in hopes of catching glimpses of him wherever he could be, she came upon his ladder – still leaning against the wall on her side from where he had crossed over to watch her from a closer distance.

“Set Alight” (Song)

By Athena Stairs,  November 13, 2025

Take me to the alter where
We’ll worship on our knees

Our love will never fail as
Souls in paradise redeem

No one can tear apart destiny
Holding hands our lives unite

We’ll celebrate Fall’s rejoicing
As the season love takes flight

Nervous Beginnings

Will our inhibitions keep us stuck in a rut?
What right do they have to mess with us?

Is this what it means by leaping in faith?
But what if we’re frozen stiff at the gate?

How do we propel ourselves into momentum?
Does speaking in code assure of same intentions?

I know desire to kiss you coaxes temptation
But is your approval implied by arrival’s attestation?

If reached out my hand, would you offer yours, too?
If counted one to three, would we crash into

Each other, bonk heads, then laugh all jittery?
I’d like to be smooth, yet awkward is temporary
