Now that the time has gone

The sparks of happiness
For potential manifest

Of such joy love bought

I once found a place for us

How I wish there was more we could share

When someone admired astrays
There’s only night left to the days

On the road of those forgotten, I have set out on this quest
It’s a chance for soul’s dominion, where I give the world my best

While it sees me as a mirage and I hide though I am proud
It is better in seclusion that I tease apart this shroud

All the words that you once told me bounce around inside my brain
At the time we sparked in passion, thought our union was insane

Across worlds we live expression, different tracks where play our game
But you know as well as I do that our hearts can love the same

If I told you that I need you, would you come when hear my call?
If I asked for your forgiveness, would you then give me your all

While I’m bound to limitations, you have everything at hand
In our complex reinvention we’d become better humans

Now I know you’ve yet to feel that in this hope’s security
We could infuse with our vision what the world has craved to see

But what’s new is rarely perceived until fan that kindred spark
What we each bring to the table is a rarest form of art

Once got a taste for flying and sailing out to sea 
The world from all illusion breaks free to follow me

And climbing over parapet to see the land unfold
Once greed and vice’s union yields to nourishment as gold

What would you confide to me if there was no more fear?
What if arms would open wide to embrace what is dear?

What’s wrong would be unfounded in purity untold
Our people given reprieve – once meek now become bold

I’d meet you by the firelight (fireside) and you would take my hand.
Our differences forgotten for something that’s more grand

We’d hear the revelry singing and toasts to fellow kin
Where we had thought the path ended a new day would begin

Tell me that you share this dream so I can understand
Why all that matters to me here is for love to comprehend

How boldness leads to ascension instead of staying still
Our troubles find solutions as we work to cure what ails

When at last there comes the time that we can join in praise
You and I and everyone will banish confused haze

The light will brighten what was dull and give life from once sand
We’ll claim at last the truth we know, once quiet now demand

This song came to me one day while driving home, so the tones were being felt out as I sought each part. I was thinking of someone I loved, and singing this for them – to be shared with future generations as a lullaby. This is its first draft, as it was born on August 30, 2019, late afternoon / early evening.
