It wasn’t a joke
No never
Nor slight of hand illusion
Though her heart burned like a brand
And pumped within contusion
You see it cannot seem to matter
When one has waited centuries
For a man to take his rightful stand
No matter his proclivities
And if I told you what his name was
Well society would jeer at me
But she’s used to all of these games
The bloody mockery and cruelty
And she loves him just the same
Which is the way it always should be
Can’t expect the seas to open up
On just a whim when claim divinity
So I’ll tell you what I’ve said before
Under weather bleak like heavy snow
When Summer comes past ebbs and flows
And Fall reveals what we must know
That there was never a doubt when certainty
As broken fragments make the whole of me
Like a crystal shattered long ago
That still recalls its molecules
Can’t change essential particles
That will bring you home to me
