Alex (An Ideal)

Dear Alex,

Exerpt from removed reference to signs and omens:

“And as I stop to investigate the room inside, it feels closer to my world now than it’s ever been – as if crowding full to burst out of me.

And I sense traces of you all over the scene, as if you’ve been there recently.

And the room is no longer dark and isolated, like in once deep, catacombed caverns.

It is a room with a window, and there is sunlight gently streaming.

And as I ask myself who it could be, I find myself breaking down crying.

All I can say clearly is that this man who has been walking along beside me, caring for me through everything, is a Master of Dreams.”

Reclamation

Jasmine Tea

I think I’ve avoided drinking it
Although bought tin canisters

Because one I once loved
Claimed it as his favorite

I remember at our beginning
Motorcycle rides to freedom

Flying like hawks in the wind
Naturally gliding glued to him

Perfection’s bliss in our kiss and
Hope’s rebirth in a life together

But innocence fades quickly
When fear grabs and blinds

One who once gave trust
Leaving the other behind

Forever alone in shadows
Clinging to lost memories

Yet this flowered cloying tea
Gives happiness nonetheless

Even if initially I must address
Associations filled with regret

Holding a cup’s heat in hands
Sipping warm sense of home

As I try to define from past
What I can still call my own

Nature

Mini Rabbit

U-turn at freeway junction
To help a lady removing

From edge-center lane
Where previous car hit

‘Is it still alive – any hope?”
“I’m not sure” / “Show me”

Scrambling to catch, I fall
Reminded limbs don’t work

She helps me up and we
Put it in a bag for transport

But the vet isn’t licensed and
Wildlife support doesn’t call

Needed pain killers and
Help to stop blood’s flow

Gently placing it in a container
In blanket with grass and water

With aded B-viamins for shock
I encourage, “It’s your choice”

Returning later eve to dull eyes
Grieving that its soul passed on

But at least it was protected
In its final hours with honor

Comedy

Highly-Digestible Rawhide

“I took a chance and got Hound and Wolf the large strips, again.

They gnawed on them for so long, and now are just lying on their sides, splayed out as if tranked – in a way I’ve never seen before.

I think that in the wild, a dog’s natural tendency is to gorge, be satiated into a stupor, and then to go hunt and repeat this cycle, again.

But having never seen this behavior in my girls, I worry about them!”

em!”

Underground

Dear Friend,

“I have been careful as I have walked beside you.

I could only observe the slightest of your journey, to keep myself healthy and from falling into the spiral.

I could only say just so much, for worry you would resist and react – thereby plunging deeper.

So I tethered you to me by a few words here or there, to remind you that there was a window – an escape hatch full of air, ready and waiting for you.”
